Colombian emeralds

Colombian emeralds
These stones are the emblem of our country. Why? In particular, Colombian emeralds have special and different characteristics compared to other semi-precious stones. The unique conditions of the subsoil make it easier for them to be more resistant, brighter and with purer and deeper tones. Consequently, emeralds originating in Colombia are some of the most sought after in the world.

In addition to their economic importance, emeralds are also part of mythology. Legend has it that the origin of these stones were the tears that the indigenous Fura shed for the loss of her beloved Tena. Fura's cry watered all the forests penetrating the earth until they turned into green stones, which would later be known as emeralds.

Finally, the deposits of these stones are concentrated in the Eastern Cordillera between the Departments of Boyacá and Cundinamarca. Muzo, the Municipality to the West of Boyacá, emeralds with unparalleled characteristics are found.
